“Be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.” Romans 12:2 KJV
Paul teaches that believers are not called to copy the patterns of the world but to allow God to transform them from within. A renewed mind produces a renewed life. Instead of being shaped by changing opinions and cultures, we are to be guided by the unchanging truth of God’s Word.
THE LESSON OF THE CHAMELEON
The chameleon changes its color to match whatever surrounds it. While this helps it survive, it becomes a tragedy when people live the same way. God did not create you to lose your identity in order to gain acceptance.
THE CHAMELEON SPIRIT
Many people change their values depending on the people around them. Their convictions disappear when they enter a different crowd. They seek approval instead of truth and become copies of others instead of remaining who God created them to be.
THE DANGER OF COMPROMISE
The world rewards popularity, but God honors faithfulness. Many exchange truth for convenience and principles for applause. A person who changes with every situation may gain acceptance but loses integrity.
EXAMPLES OF FAITHFULNESS
Daniel remained faithful in Babylon. Joseph kept his integrity in Egypt. The three Hebrew men refused to bow before the golden image. Their surroundings changed, but their devotion to God did not.
STAND FIRM
A tree stands strong because of its roots, not because of calm weather. In the same way, a life rooted in God’s Word remains steady when challenges come. Do not let circumstances determine your character.
GOD CALLS US TO BE DIFFERENT
God calls His people to shine as light, not to blend into darkness. Your identity should come from Christ, not from culture. Let your words, actions, and choices reflect His truth wherever you are.
AFRICAN WISDOM
African wisdom says, “The tree with deep roots laughs at the wind.” Those who are firmly rooted in truth cannot be shaken by changing times.
REFLECTION
Are your convictions shaped by God’s Word or by the opinions of others? Do you remain the same person in private and in public? Stand firm in Christ, remain faithful to your calling, and let your life reflect His unchanging character rather than the changing colors of the world.
