Destiny often hides in daily conduct.
Many people are waiting for one great opportunity to change their lives, but sometimes destiny is quietly being shaped through the ordinary things they do every day.
The way you speak to people, handle responsibility, treat those who cannot reward you, and behave when nobody is watching may be preparing you for a future you cannot yet see.
Your daily conduct matters because character often determines whether people can trust you with greater opportunities.
THE STORY OF CHISOM: A YOUNG MAN OF CONSISTENCY
A young man named Chisom understood this without knowing exactly where his consistency would lead him.
The name Chisom means God is with me.
Chisom worked in an oil company where there were many employees with different levels of experience, education, and ambition. He was not the loudest person in the office, and he did not constantly advertise himself.
What distinguished him was his conduct.
He came to work on time. He respected both senior and junior colleagues. He did not manipulate people to get ahead. When he made a mistake, he admitted it rather than shifting the blame. When he was given a responsibility, he treated it seriously.
He was also known for helping others without making them feel inferior.
If a colleague needed assistance with a task he understood, he helped. If he discovered an error that could affect the company, he reported it instead of taking advantage of it. He did not join office gossip, and he avoided unnecessary conflicts.
Some people wondered why he was so disciplined when nobody was forcing him to behave that way.
But Chisom believed that character should not depend on supervision.
He would often remind himself that if God was truly with him, he should conduct himself in a way that honored the God he believed in.
Over time, his conduct began to speak for him.
Senior members of the company noticed his reliability. Supervisors discovered that assignments given to him were usually completed properly. Colleagues trusted him with sensitive responsibilities. When opportunities for advancement came, his name was repeatedly mentioned.
Eventually, Chisom was highly favored and promoted.
The promotion did not suddenly create his character. His character had been preparing him for the promotion long before the promotion arrived.
What looked like favor from the outside was also the fruit of many ordinary decisions made when nobody was applauding him.
His destiny was hiding in his daily conduct.
LESSONS FROM CHISOM’S STORY
Never underestimate the power of the ordinary things you do consistently.
You may think nobody notices your honesty, but somebody may be watching.
You may think nobody values your reliability, but somebody may be taking note.
You may think your kindness is insignificant, but someone may remember it when an opportunity needs a trustworthy person.
You may think your discipline is producing nothing, but your character may be building a reputation that will eventually open doors for you.
Your future may be connected to how you handle your present.
Do not wait until you receive a big opportunity before you begin to behave responsibly.
The person who is careless with small responsibilities may also be careless with great ones.
Joseph did not become trustworthy when he stood before Pharaoh. His character had been revealed in the house of Potiphar and even in prison.
David did not become courageous when he stood before Goliath. His courage had been developed while protecting his father’s sheep.
Likewise, your destiny may be developing through the things you consider too small to matter.
The way you speak to people.
The way you treat your subordinates.
The way you handle money that does not belong to you.
The way you respond when you are corrected.
The way you behave when you are angry.
The way you speak about people who are not present.
The way you perform a task that nobody will personally inspect.
These things may look ordinary, but they reveal character.
Sometimes favor does not begin with a miracle. Sometimes it begins with consistency.
Sometimes promotion begins with punctuality.
Sometimes influence begins with humility.
Sometimes opportunity begins with reliability.
Sometimes destiny begins with good conduct.
Your present behavior may be quietly introducing you to your future.
So conduct yourself well, even when nobody is watching.
Your destiny may be watching.
