The Word of God does not merely inform the mind, it illuminates the soul. Scripture is the lamp that awakens understanding in places where human wisdom fails. When God’s light enters a man, confusion begins to break, hidden things are exposed, and direction becomes clear. A pure eye is not merely a healthy eye, but a focused heart. Where the heart is fixed on truth, life becomes full of light.
There is a difference between light and sight. Sight is the ability to see, but light is what makes seeing possible.
A man may have healthy eyes and still walk into destruction if there is no light. In the same way, a soul may be intelligent and still be blind where truth is absent.
Before the eyes of man were formed, light already existed.
“And God said, Let there be light: and there was light.”
Genesis 1:3 KJV
This reveals a deep mystery: illumination comes before understanding.
Many people have sight but no vision. They observe but do not discern. They hear but do not perceive.
Sight belongs to the eyes. Light belongs to truth.
Without truth, sight becomes trapped in illusion.
LIGHT REVEALS
Light exposes what darkness hides. A room may look clean until sunlight enters it. In the same way, truth reveals the true condition of the heart.
LIGHT GUIDES
A traveler without light is vulnerable to danger. Even a small lamp can preserve him from destruction. Direction is impossible without illumination.
LIGHT WARMS
Light does not only reveal, it sustains life. Truth nourishes the soul just as sunlight nourishes the earth.
LIGHT SEPARATES
At creation, God separated light from darkness. Truth separates error, wisdom separates foolishness, and holiness separates purity from corruption.
LIGHT MULTIPLIES
One candle can light many others without losing its flame. So it is with truth. The more it is shared, the more it spreads.
THE ANCIENT MYTH OF THE SUN BEARER
Among the ancient Igbo mythology, there is an old tale of a village swallowed by endless night.
The people had eyes, but no one could see.
They stumbled into rivers, mistook trees for enemies, and called stones bread.
An elder said the problem was not blindness, but the absence of the Sun Bearer.
Legend says a young hunter climbed seven hills seeking the hidden flame of the gods.
At each hill, he lost something, his pride, his certainty, his comfort, his strength, his companions, his voice, and finally his fear.
At the summit, he found not fire, but truth.
The gods said:
“The sun was never lost. Your people simply forgot how to seek it.”
When he returned, he carried light back to the village.
And for the first time, the people realized their eyes had always worked.
They simply had no light.
This myth carries an eternal lesson:
Sometimes what we call confusion is not lack of ability, it is lack of illumination.
