REMEMBER: NOT BEING HONEST DISFIGURES WHO YOU ARE

There is a silent violence that does not bruise the skin yet distorts the soul. Dishonesty is not just an act, it reshapes identity. Every lie moves a person away from their true self, until truth begins to feel unfamiliar.

“Providing for honest things, not only in the sight of the Lord, but also in the sight of men.”
2 Corinthians 8:21 (KJV)

Honesty must be complete, before God and before men.

THE SUBTLE BEGINNING OF DISHONESTY:

Dishonesty often begins small, a slight bending of truth to avoid discomfort or protect an image. At first, the conscience resists, but when ignored, it grows quiet. The mind adjusts, and a false version of the self begins to form.

THE EFFECT ON IDENTITY:

With time, a person no longer just tells lies but becomes shaped by them. There is confusion within, because maintaining falsehood requires constant effort. Yet deep inside, something still knows the truth.

THE MIRROR OF ALETHEIA

In ancient Greek lore, there was said to be a mystical mirror hidden in a sacred grove, known as the Mirror of Aletheia, the Mirror of Truth. It was believed that anyone who stood before it would not see their physical reflection, but the true state of their soul.

A young man, known for his charm and clever speech, once heard of this mirror. He was admired by many, respected in public, but secretly lived a life woven with deceit. Curious and confident, he sought out the mirror, convinced that he would see a noble image.

After a long journey, he found the grove and stood before the mirror.

At first, he saw nothing.

Then slowly, an image began to form, but it was not what he expected.

The face staring back at him was distorted. Its features were twisted, not by age or injury, but by layers of falsehood. The eyes were clouded, the expression fragmented, as though multiple selves were competing within one form.

Terrified, the young man stepped back, denying what he saw. But the mirror did not change. It did not lie. It revealed.

In that moment, he realized that while he had deceived others, he had been silently disfiguring himself.

CONSEQUENCES OF DISHONESTY:

  • Inner unrest that robs the soul of peace.
  • Loss of trust from others over time.
  • Gradual confusion about one’s true identity.

THE RESTORING POWER OF TRUTH:

Truth restores what dishonesty damages. Every honest choice brings a person back to who they were meant to be. Honesty brings clarity, peace, and freedom.

CLOSING THOUGHT:

  • Repeated dishonesty reshapes identity.
  • Truth keeps a person whole.
  • Returning to honesty is the beginning of restoration.
